わたしわスメイです、よろしくおねがいします。よこそ my space! June 28 Cameron Highland- Revisit after 13 yearsI was really tested my little Kancil limit. I was actually driving with the speed of 110- 120km/h to Cameron Highland. A bit worry though, because I have never tried before driving on my own to Cameron. Going with Joanne, I told her please remind me not to fall asleep. Reason being is, we slept only 2am and we left to destination at 8am. So we have only 5hours sleep before we left.
And this trip, we are very happy with it because we really enjoy the scenic view of the mountain, farm and tea plantation. And the vegetables market stuff there are really cheap. Fresh fruit and vege. We bought many of them, happily!
Unforgettable will be the Sg Palas Boh Tea Plantation. What a great concept to build a tea house in the middle of the mountain and surrounded by tea trees! Can you imagine?
Will definitely visit Cameron again!
NaRuWan ParT VIWe have reserved a budget but newly renovated budget hotel- “芝丰饭店”, this hotel is just situated the road behind the shoplots opposite Kaoshiung Train Station, pretty convenient. And we will only spend a night here.
However, at this point of time, our luggage is equivalent to the weight of an adult. Can you imagine? We were actually carrying an adult all over the place? Silly right?
So we reached hotel at around 2pm. Quickly put down the luggages, we took a short rest and here we come. We saw a lot of hawker stall down the street. Out first destination, to the 'shoes street'. From the research that we did, this street, I couldn't recall the name, is situated at the other side of the train station. In order to reach there, we got to go in to the station again, buy a 'platform crossing' ticket,- “月台票” and then crossing to the back of the station. I hope you can understand me... With a great hope that we could grab some cheap and high quality shoes. But, we were once again, bought nothing. The shoes there are definitely high quality and branded! But really pricy.
So, without wasting our time, we returned to the main street again. And surprisingly, the shops situated along the main road of Kaoshiung City are so interesting to shop! They are selling various types of bags, clothes, shoes hats & caps etc. And the prices are really really cheap! And there are various accessories shops & beauty products. If I say, you couldn't find those fashions & designs in here, please don't feel I'm exageratting the situation. Trust me, you will sure shop till you drop!
We were actually on our way to the famous Kaoshiung Sity 'pasar malam'- “六合夜市”. We chose to walk there eventhough we were not sure how far it is. We could see a lot of wedding gallery too. When we reached there, the stalls were just started their business. We tried its “胡椒饼”, but we were dissappointed. Maybe we have tried the best in Taiwan when we were at “饶河夜市”. OK, never mind. And we saw another shop selling ladies accessorries. Couldn't help, we just walked in and spent some money there, phew~~
Then we saw the famous food in Taiwan, “担担面”. I tell you, you may need to order at least 2 bowls if you are really hungry but provided you don't mind the strong smell of the mince pork. One thing I notice is, the pork in Taiwan is really having that 'piggy smell'. I feel it is a bit stink... sorry to describe it in that manner. And tell you honestly, after I returned to KL, there is a short while I actually dare not eat pork because it made me recall the pork in Taiwan. Back to the “担担面”, the noodle is really in tiny portion and I don't like the taste... pork smell is just too heavy!
And we saw another famous fried squid, fried giant squid tenticle. Our first expression when seeing that was "wow~~~Really giant lor", then we couldn't wait to taste it. But eventually, we threw away the whole packet after just 1 bite. Again I have to tell you, I will never waste food unless it is really 'non-edible'.
And this tenticles are 'non-edible' to me, very 'yak'. The feel when you bite it, is like bitting the no longer juicy chewing gum. Just imagine you have 5 bubble gums in your mouth and after some time you chew it, the elasticity has loss and your mouth is getting tired and more tired to continue chewing. And tasteless! No, shouldn't say tasteless here, it's fishy, very fishy! So, remember, famous doesn't mean delicious ya! In the night market, we saw a lot of 'weird food' or you may want to call it 'bizarre food'... I'm sorry that can't name them here because I really have forgotten their names... dare not try them.
But Joanne did manage to buy her shoes and bag. After the 'pasar malam' tour, we took a taxi to go to The Love River, “爱河”. According to the taxi driver, when The Love River first being beautified as a tourist attraction, there were cafes along the river. But after that the business wasn't that satisfying, so, what we can see now is only the river. However, when we got down from the taxi, is there cafe or not is just doesn't matter because the night scene is just fantastic! So romantic! We could never find such wonderful and clean river in KL. If you don't trust me, just look at Kuala Lumpur landmark, the Klang & Gombak River.
So we spent about 40mins there and we returned to hotel again. We visited their 7-11 again of course. And we quickly walked down the street again to grab whatever we left out just now. As you know, we spent only a night here.
So, after all the enjoyment & excitement, we were leaving Kaoshiung with all the stuff we have bought there, we were heading to Taichung! And need to tell you, we were carrying '2 adults' now with us! Phew~~~
Next destination- Taichung!
CareleSS WhisPeRWhen your Whisper is leaking then it's called Careless Whisper, fine? May 25 NaRuWaN ParT VJeremy was telling us to get ready by 9am, if I'm not mistakenly remember... But we actually woke up at 9am.
That morning weather wasn't that fantastic. Rain little bit. Jeremy brought us for breakfast at his friend's cafe. The cafe is serving healthy and fresh food. I don't know how to decribe the breakfast which we ordered, but they are definitely very great, and absolutely fresh in the sense that after taken the breakfast, I could easily feel my body is very healthy, hahahaha~~~ And healthy food can be very delicious if you know how to manage them. And that morning when I visited the W.C. in that cafe, I found a purse. Luckily the owner was still there so manage to return it.
That day was a rush day for us because we were leaving to Kaoshiung from Taitung. We told Jeremy what we wished to see and buy before leaving. However, I wanted to say, we didn't manage to get what we want, at all I would say. We didn't buy the famous “台东释迦”, not even tasted it! We didn't see the famous seafood village “富里”. But we did visit to the Taitung Museum, where Jeremy was working at before he becoming Club Med G.O. . The moment you have entered the exbition hall in the museum, you can easily feel that you have entered the museum of the movie- Nights in the Museum! So alike... He was our tour guide in the museum, professionally explained everything we should know! At there, we saw a group of school kids were visiting the museum and listening to the guide to explain to them how the mainland of Taiwan was formed. We stood there to listen as well. We understand Taiwan more after that trip, really have to thank Jeremy for that.
And then he showed us the oldest Taiwan Aborginal Village which situated in Taitung- “卑南族遗址”. You won't find anything so great here but it's a place where the Taiwan Government has to preserve because apparently the Bei Nan Tribe 'village' is where the history of Taiwan 'begin'. And Jeremy said actually the famous Taiwanese Singer, Amei is actually from this tribe and not “阿美族”. Well, of course, for more information, please visit the web to find our more. Hahahaha~~~
On the way we could easily see many shops that are selling agro- products, because Taitung is very famous of fruits and rice. We wished to buy some rice back but really couldn't because we still have to go to Kaoshiung by train later, don't think that we can carry.... sigh...never mind...
Then, we were sent to Taitung Train Station again. We have to say goodbye to Jeremy. Nearby the station, there is a very famous Taiwan omochi shop- “曾记麻薯”. Easily we spent almost NT$500 there because the omochi is so colourful and cute, of course delicious too. Simply irresistable. And till then, our luggage is getting heavier...phew!
Another 2- 3hours, can't remember exactly how long for us to reach Kaoshiung. And it was very rush trip for us, because we gotta reach Fo Guang Shan (FGS)-“佛光山”before 8p.m.
After reaching Kaoshiung Train Station, we went to buy the bus ticket to “佛光山”. There is no bus number nor time for the bus to arrive on the ticket. We have to sit there and listen to the bus contractor to 'shout' the bus destination when there is bus arrives at the station. We were so worry that we might get on to the wrong bus and brought us to no where so keep on asking favour from the contractor that please inform us once the bus to“佛光山”arrives. We waited for almost an hour there! Already 6.30pm! Getting more anxious, could we reach on time?
Sitting in the bus, the next question is, where to get down? How do we know we have arrived? Again, we told the bus driver to 'shout' when the destination has reached...
Kaoshiung is another quite busy city. We could see there are a lot of shopping mall and quite heavy traffic. One more interesting 'sight'- AV Shops, not Audio Video Shop but 'Adult Video Shop'. In a roll of shops, you could easily find at least 30% of them are selling AV. What's so interesting? Because in M'sia, we will have no chance to see the business signboard actually writen there big enough 'AV DVD'. Hahahaha~~~ Sorry ya, just a new thing for us.
The sky was getting dark and we didn't know where we are. An hour passed... Have we miss the station? 7.40p.m., the bus stopped at a station again. But the driver didn't show any sign to call us to get down... Forget to mention, there was a “比丘尼”was with us in the bus, we did wonder is she also one of the “佛光出家人”? And she actually got down from the bus at this station! Should we just follow her? What if she is not going to the same place? Miserable... Then we heard:“佛光山!”The driver actually forgotten us... And he saw the “比丘尼”then only he remembered us. What an 'adventurous' trip!
So, we were very sure the “比丘尼”was from “佛光山”. We must tail her because we still couldn't see it from where we got down. We were carrying a lot of things with us and she was just walking too fast. We kept on chasing. Hooray~~~ finally we saw the main entrance of it... Thank buddha we said. And for your information, the“比丘尼”has already out of our sight. Looking at the watch, another 10mins the reception counter will close! And standing at the main entrance, there is still a long way for us to 'climb' up. The way is steep enough. Tried our best to run or at least jog to catch the receptionist. And thank buddha again, we were just in time to catch the receptionist! There were closing... phew!
You might be wondering, what lah, can come the next day mah, why rush like tomorrow it was going to shut down? Because that night we were staying there! If the counter closed, then we might need to 'camp' there. True! No hotel not motel down the hill. Unless we went back to town again.
We felt so sorry for everyone there because we delayed their closing hour. 2 of them were “比丘尼”some more! After doing the necessaries, filling up a form & produce visitor pass, “师父”and one of the“师姐”sent us to where we were going to stay using a golf cart. And knowing we haven't taken dinner, they were so kind and considerate, bought us 2 very nice and big portion of vegetarian mixed rice! So touching! And more guilty...
That was the first time we visited 'our home' (all FGS member will name “佛光山”out home, so visiting FGS is coming back home), no idea how was the room looked like... Now we know. It is just like a hotel room! Spacious & comfortable! On the way sending us to our room, “慧如师父” telling us tomorrow morning at 5.30a.m. there will be “早课”, so she would meet us at 4.45a.m. to lead us to the hall. Fine for me because I really wanted to experience“早课”there. That night I slept for only 4hours. Taking a really cool shower, because the water is cold water, at 4.15a.m. can you imagine? And in the mountain some more! You will definitely 'awaken' after that. I saw “慧如师父”already standing there waiting for me. Only that morning I knew she is from KL too! When we reached The Great Shrine, everyone was prepared in the shrine for “早课”. Because I haven't done “早课”before, I'm afraid I might do something 'embarrasing', hahahaha~~~ So I told “师父”that I'm not confident to join... So, on that morning she showed me around in order we could 'tour' FGS on our own. Forget to mention, at 4.45a.m. , we can see daylight already.
Apparently the“比丘”that we met all knew we were the one who reached FGS late at night and from Malaysia.So embarrasing... We spent only 4hours touring around 'our home'. Please see the photos in my album in order to understand better what we saw ya! We have to leave FGS by 12noon in order not to delay our schedule, we planned to go back to Kaoshiung City.
FGS has already arranged for us the transport to train station. We left FGS happily and feeling owing everyone there for the hospitality.
Next destination, Kaoshiung City!
父母们离去,留下许多未来不知去向的孤儿;
孩子们的离去,留下了白首人送黑首人的画面;
救援队伍成功救出一条生命时的喜悦,就像医生从母体迎接小生命一样兴奋;
亲人在绝望时看见挚爱从残砾中被救出来时的欢腾,就像重逢的珍贵;
